Continuing Education

The California Addiction Training and Education Series meets the qualifications for 6 continuing education (CE) credits (1-day conference). An additional $20 fee will be assessed for those attendees wishing to receive CE credit. Continuing Education will be offered for the following disciplines:

Corrections Personnel:
The California Addiction Training and Education Series: Engagement and Retention qualifies for credit-hours under the California Board of Corrections' Standards and Training for Correction (STC), Work-Related Education and Training (WRE) alternative. To obtain WRE credit for attending the CATES training, please follow these steps:

  1. Request training credit through your department's STC Training Manager.
  2. In turn, your training manager should submit the WRE application (on-line) to STC for certification. Note: This step can be done retroactively, but it must be done.
  3. Upon completion of the CATES training, you should complete a "WRE Post-Course Benefit Analysis" form. You can obtain this form through your training manager.

For STC- or WRE alternative-related questions, please contact Nathaniel Reed, California Department of Corrections, at 916-324-2878.

Attention All UCLA Customers:

Returned Check Fine Increases:
In order to better cover the cost of returned check processing to the University, UCLA will increase the returned check fee from $10 to $25 effective February 1, 2005. This amount covers the majority of the costs involved, is an industry standard, and is permitted by California law.

“Cash Only” Policy for Returned Check Writers:
Effective February 1, 2005, any person who has more than three checks returned unpaid to the University will be placed on a “Cash Only” basis (i.e. cash, credit card, cashier’s check, or money order) for all future transactions. A letter will be mailed to the current mailing/billing address on file if this threshold is met, and no future checks will be accepted. We are not responsible for delivery of mail or the accuracy of the address on file.

Enforcement of the “Cash Only” Policy:
Check payments made in person at the Administrative Main Cashier or the Remittance Processing Center will not be accepted from customers who have been placed on a “Cash Only” basis. Check payments mailed to the Remittance Processing Center by customers on a “Cash Only” basis will be accepted, but credit will not be posted to their BAR account for two weeks.
